National Admission Test (NAT) - NUJS

NUJS is a University exclusively for legal studies and research established under an Act of the West Bengal Legislature (Act IX of 1999) in Kolkata. NUJS started its journey in 1999 under Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon (former Director of NLSIU Bangalore). The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in law and related subjects. Admission to the five-year undergraduate B.A./ B.Sc. LL.B. (Hon's.) degree program is done on the basis of an all-India National Admission Test (NAT).

Eligibility

Candidates shall be permitted to take the NAT in the same year in which they will be appearing for their (10+2) Exam; but their admission to the course shall be subjected to the fulfilment of the following conditions. He/she must have:

  1. Passed (excepting compartmental) the Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination (10+2) securing in the aggregate not less than 50 % of the total marks in all the core subjects and English language put together, and secured a minimum of 35 % in each subject.
  2. Not completed 21 years of age as on December 31st of the year of admission. For SC/ST candidates, the age limit is 22 years.
  3. Proficiency in English language and in operating computers. Students not trained in the use of computers are advised to acquire the skill in the summer vacation, prior to their admission in the University in June.

Application forms are available from November to December and the last date of submission of completed forms is December. Admission forms are also available on the university website: www.nujs.edu

Results

The result of the NAT is generally declared in May and is displayed on the university notice board as well as published online on the university website.

Admission

Candidates who have been selected shall be individually intimated. They will have to appear for a competitive interview and group discussion on a date which shall be notified shortly. The final list of successful candidates will be displayed on the university notice board as well as published online on the university website shortly thereafter.

Test Pattern

The NAT will be of 2 hours' duration. Students will have to answer objective type multiple-choice questions as well as short answer questions. Students would be tested on General Knowledge, General English, Mathematics, Analytical Reasoning and Aptitude for Legal Studies and in Elementary Sciences. The medium of examination is in English. The standard expected would be of the level of the higher secondary or equivalent (10 +2).

Test Centres

The examination is held at eight centers of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Chennai, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati (the test centres may be changed at the discretion of the management).
