The National Law School of India University, Bangalore was established under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). Admission to the BA LLB and LLM course of NLSIU is made purely on the merit as assessed through an Admission Test conducted for the purpose by the Admission Committee, appointed by the Director. BA LLB Educational Qualification: passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 50% of the total marks in all the core subjects and English language put together Age: not completed 20 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission. Provided in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, the maximum age limit shall be 22 years as on 1st July of the year of admission. NRI Students: The Admission of Foreign nationals however, shall be made based on satisfying the prescribed Academic Qualification and on a review of the academic and co-curricular accomplishments as assessed by the Admission Committee, preference being given to candidates from developing countries. They are exempted from taking the admission test and the rule concerning the age limit. The candidate must have studied English language as one of the compulsory subjects in 10+2 or equivalent Higher Secondary School Examination. The Admission Committee may conduct an English language competence test. Only on the basis of requisite English language standard, the candidate will be provisionally admitted. LLM - Master of Laws B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Program - The admission test will carry a maximum of 200 marks having mainly with objective type of short answer questions of a standard expected of 10+2 students. The paper will contain questions on (a) General Knowledge (b) General English (c) Legal Aptitude (d) Reasoning and (e) Mathematics. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the year of admission shall also be permitted to take the Admission Test, but their admission to the course shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the Regulations at the time of admission and production of documentary evidence of their eligibility. All admissions shall be completed before 30th June of every year. LLM - Candidates for LL.M. course shall be selected by the Admission Committee consisting of the Director as Chairman, the Chairman of the Post-Graduate Council and three other members of the Faculty nominated by the Director as members, based on a combined assessment of:
The entrance test for LL.M. is held along with the entrance test for the B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) of the NLSIU on the first Sunday of May every year. The Entrance test centres are Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Allahabad and Chandigarh (the centres can be changed each year at the discretion of the college management). Application for Admission Test, when called for, shall be obtained from the Registrar, National Law School of India University, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore - 560 072, by sending a Demand Draft drawn on the State Bank of India or any other Nationalized bank payable to the NLSIU at Bangalore. The filled in application for the Admission Test shall be returned to the Registrar, NLSIU on or before the last date as notified.
