Post Certificate Entrance Examination

All India Institute of Medical Sciences is an institution of national importance. The Institute awards its own medical degrees and other academic distinctions. The degrees awarded by the institute are recognised by Government of India, Medical Council of India and other bodies for the purpose of employment and further studies.

The institute conducts an All India Entrance Examination every year for admission in BSc Nursing Post Certificate course of two years duration. The centre of examination is Delhi only.


Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for taking admission in AIIMS B. Sc. Nursing Post Certificate Course is as follows:

  1. Passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board / University.

  2. Obtained a Certificate in General Nursing and midwifery and be an 'A' Grade nurse, registered with State Nurses Registration Council. In case of male nurse, he should have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and, instead of training in Midwifery, training in any tow subjects out of the following : (a) Venereal Disease Nursing, (b) Tuberculosis Nursing, (c) Ophthalmic Nursing, (d) Psychiatry Nursing, (e) Operation Theatre Techniques for a period of three month in each. He should be an 'A' Grade nurse registered with the State Nurses Registration Council.

  3. Worked for a minimum period of three years as a staff nurse in recognised hospital or as a Public Health Nurse, after obtaining the above mentioned certificates.


Method of Selection

Competitive Entrance Examination : The candidates are required to appear at the competitive entrance examination, which is held at Delhi only.

Pattern of Entrance Examination

Generally, the entrance examination is of one paper containing objective type (multiple choice) questions in the subjects of Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing including Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology, Obstetric Nursing and Midwifery, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Professional Trends in Nursing.

Personal Assessment : Based on the merit list the candidates are invited to AIIMS for personal assessment by the Selection Committee.

Requirement for Admission of Foreign Nationals

The foreign notional candidates are exempted from appearing in the Entrance Examination

The foreign national candidates are required to fill in the application form prescribed by the Institute through diplomatic channels.
