CMC (Christian Medical College) Vellore was established in 1918 with the stated objective of "establishment, maintenance and development of a Christian Medical College and Hospital in India, where women and men shall receive an education of the highest grade in the art and science of medicine and nursing, or in one or other related professions, to equip them for service in the relief of suffering and the promotion of health." The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore is a pre-eminent centre of medical studies and research. Work on various aspects of leprosy, AIDS, diarrhoea in children and immunisation researches are some of the need-based research they engage in. A candidate may apply for a maximum of 4 courses from this group in a particular year. Group C courses offered by CMC Vellore are Allied Health Sciences Diploma courses. These courses are also known as paramedical courses. A candidate may apply for a maximum of 5 courses from this group in any one year. These diplomas are offered by the CMC Vellore Association and are affiliated to national bodies and regulatory agencies where such exist. Those courses that are affiliated to other bodies are so indicated. Based on the written test performance, candidates are called for the interview. Some courses may have a practical examination.All interviews are conducted in English. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the written test and interviews.
