Dental Postgraduate Courses (MDS)

Dirtectorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, Maharashtra conducts an entrance examination for admission in various post graduate dental streams offered by Dental Colleges in Maharashtra. The admission is made on the basis of PGDCET conducted by D.M.E.R., Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for postgraduate degree courses in dentistry is given under;

Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian National.

Educational Qualification: A candidate, who has passed final B.D.S. degree from a recognised dental college included in the schedule of the Dental Council of India and situated in Maharashtra, affiliated to the Non-agricultural University established under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and who has obtained full registration either from the Dental Council of India or Maharashtra State Dental Council (MSDC) after completing one year compulsory rotating internship are eligible to appear for PGD-CET.

Registration: A candidate should have obtained DCI/MSDC registration on or before 15th April, of the year of entrance examination.

Important: A candidate who has completed one year compulsory rotating internship / and is likely to complete the same on or before 31st March of the year of examination is eligible to apply for PGDCET.

Minimum Marks: To be eligible for selection to postgraduate course in Dentistry, a candidate belonging to open category must secure not less than 50% marks and candidate belonging to backward class category must secure not less than 40% marks at PGD-CET.

Examination Pattern

Question paper of entrance examination is of one and half hours duration containing 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs). Each correct response shall be awarded one mark. There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.

The Common Entrance Test shall be of the standard of BDS Examinations and shall cover all the subjects of BDS course.

  • The Competent Authority shall issue prescribed form alongwith information brochure for admission to postgraduate courses well in advance of the date to be fixed for holding PGD-CET.
  • The Information Brochure and Application form will be available at all Government Dental Colleges on payment.
