Karnataka-CET

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test and Aptitude Test is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates to the First year or First semester of full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses, in institutions within the State of Karnataka.

Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Professional Institutions Rules, (in short ‘Rules’) as amended from time to time. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail.

The candidates from outside Karnataka can also write the Common Entrance Test. However, the seats in Government / University / Aided courses in aided colleges will not be offered to such candidates. As regards seats in un-aided colleges, the details of seats available, if any, and the procedure of allotment, if seats are available, will be notified subsequently and will be subject to the above condition.

Eligibility

Age: For admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy / Yoga courses, have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of the admission.

Educational Qualification: For Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy / Yoga courses, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% marks in the PCB group. 40% in the case of SC / ST / Category-1 candidates provided that for Dental course, the candidate must have secured 50% marks in the optional subjects including English subject.

Application Form

Candidates who have studied or studying their 2nd PUC or 12th standard in educational institutions within Karnataka should get their brochure with application forms by submitting a demand draft for Rs.550/- to the Principals of the institutions in which they had studied or studying or appeared for the 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination. (Rs. 400/- in case of SC / ST / Category-1 candidates.) The Principals of all the Schools and Colleges in Karnataka teaching 2nd PUC or 12th standard including CBSE & CISCE syllabi have been requested to collect the filled application forms and forward the same to the CET Cell both from freshers & repeater students. The last day for submission of DD to concerned Principals is 03-03-2005.

The Karnataka candidates who have studied or studying 12th standard or intermediate or pre-degree or equivalent examination outside Karnataka (including Horanadu, Gadinadu & other Karnataka candidates), can get the brochure with application only through 'Speed Post', directly from the CET Cell, by sending a cloth lined self-addressed envelope of 25 cms x 30 cms size and a demand draft for Rs. 650/- drawn in favour of the “Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore” payable at Bangalore and Karnataka candidates residing outside India can get the brochures by sending a demand draft for Rs. 2000/-.

The envelope in which the said two items are sent should be boldly superscribed with the words "REQUEST FOR CET 2005 BROCHURE" and should be sent individually by “SPEED POST” only. The last day for receipt of request for brochure with application forms will be 05-03-2005.

Note: The Non-Karnataka candidates are not eligible to appear for the entrance test and also for the later seat selection conducted by the CET Cell, during this year.

The schedule of the written test is as follows:

  • The candidates claiming Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, to establish their ability to speak, read and write Kannada. The Kannada Language test will be conducted by the CET Cell on 05-05-2005 at 11.00 a.m. in the premises of CET Cell Office, Bangalore. Such candidates will have to appear for the ‘Common Entrance Test 2005’ only in a test centre located at BANGALORE. The relevant photocopy of the original documents of the parents in support of their claim such as marks cards, study certificates, etc., should be produced on the day of Kannada Language Test.

  • Based on the performance of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test / Aptitude Test and the Qualifying Examination, merit / rank list will be prepared and published. All the candidates will be allowed to select seats in the order of their merit / rank for selecting the available seats.
