The Birla Institute of Technology popularly known as BIT was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, which is now in Jharkand state of the Republic of India. Minimum qualification is a pass at I.Sc. / (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology/Biotechnology in case of BE-Biotechnology). Candidate must to take AIEEE Examination no need to fill the form of BIT, unless notification is issued by the institute.

B.Arch – Bachelor of Architecture

The admission to B.Arch programme of BIT, Mesra Ranchi is based on AIEEE & through CCB.

Minimum qualification is a pass at I.Sc./ (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. (AIEEE - Based) & through CCB. Candidate must to take AIEEE Examination no need to fill the form of BIT, unless notification is issued by the institute.

B Pharm – Bachelor of Pharmaceutics

Minimum qualification is a pass at I.Sc./ (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology/Mathematics as one of the subject obtaining at least 50% aggregate marks for General Category Candidate (for SC/ST 45% maximum marks). The admission to this programme is AIEEE / AIPMT based. Candidates with Biology stream must take AIPMT and those with Mathematics stream must take AIEEE exam. Candidates has to fill the B.I.T. form after notification is issued by the institute. Counselling to be done by B.I.T., Mesra Ranchi.

BHMCT – Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

Minimum qualification is a pass at I.Sc./ (10+2)/I.Com./I.A. or equivalent examination.

BBA – Bachelor of Business Administration.

The candidate should have at least 50% of marks in 10th.

Minimum qualification is a pass in 10+2/ Intermediate or equivalent examination.

BCA - Bachelor of Computer Application

The candidate should have at least 50% of marks in 10th

Minimum qualification is a pass at I.Sc./(10+2) or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Business Maths/Statistics/Computer Science as one of the subject.

BSc – Bachelor of Science (Animation & Multimedia)

Minimum qualification is a pass in 10+2/ Intermediate or equivalent examination. Age Limit : The maximum age limit is 21 years for all UG programmes which is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Part Time Post-Graduate Programme : Under continuing Education Programme Institute may offer admission to any of these post graduate programme provided sizeable number of candidates opt for the same. For all the ME/M.Pharm./M.Tech. Programme sizeable number would be 5 to 10 minimum. For MBA and MCA Programme minimum number shall be 30. At appropriate time admission notification shall be issued in local dailies with the Extension Centres offering these programme.

The eligibility requirement shall be same as prescribed for the Full Time Programme. However, the candidate would be required to have minimum of 2 years work experience. Candidate would not be required to sit for competitive examination. It may be noted that regular classes are held for admitted students in evening and duration of such programme is 1.5 times of respective fulltime Programme. Institute does not offer correspondence courses.

# Admitted students with valid GATE SCORE will be eligible to receive scholarship upto the number sanctioned as indicated and subjected to release of funds from UGC/AICTE.

Outstation request for obtaining application form with Information Brochure be sent giving name of the candidate, course name for which seeking admission, Qualification, School / College studying and complete postal address along with fee in US Dollar or Indian Rupees which is to be sent by Bank Draft favouring Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi. Application material is sent by Courier / Air mail to all such applicants. The forms can also be downloaded from the Institute web site www.bitmesra.ac.in. Such Form must be filled and sent along with application and processing fee through bank draft in favour of Birla Institute of Technology payable at Ranchi.

Conditions required to be fulfilled by candidates seeking admission under NRI or Self Financing Foreign National (SFFS) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Category:

In addition to the minimum educational qualification or equivalent as prescribed for various courses, candidates seeking admission under direct channel of admission must fulfill following conditions in order of preference.

1. Candidates must be either Son/Daughter of N.R.I./P.I.O./ Foreign Nationals. AND must have Obtained prescribed qualification from school, colleges, located abroad.

2. Candidates must have stayed abroad at least 5 years during preceding 8 years from the year of admission.

3. Candidates are citizens of foreign land having pass port issued by a foreign country. These students shall pay prescribed fees in US Dollar or Equivalent.

Foreign Students (Nominee of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India against I.C.C.R. Scholarship)

A limited number of seats will be filled by direct admission from the foreign nationals, who fulfill the prescribed eligibility norms. Such students must process their application through the Indian Missions in their respective countries and the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The mode of payment of fees for such foreign students is same as payable by Indian students. These students are directly nominated by ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Relation, Govt. of India).

Indian Students (Nominees of Ministry of H.R.D., Govt. of India)

A few seats may be filled by nomination received from Ministry of H.R.D. from Indian students including Kashmiri Migrants. These students pay same fees as Indian students.
