Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD), Department of Education (DAE), Government of India. CEED is the qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate M.Des. (i.e. Master of Design) programmes at the Industrial Design Centre (IIT Bombay), Inter disciplinary Industrial Design Programme (IIT Delhi), Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing (IISc Bangalore) and Design Programme (IIT Kanpur). However, IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore also consider GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score for admission into design programmes. The examination tests the candidates for visual perception ability, drawing skills, design aptitude and communication skills. CEED / GATE qualification alone does not guarantee admission to design programmes offered at IITs or IISc. Candidates also have to fulfill other requirements such as tests & interviews of the respective institutions (i.e. IIT or IISc) for admission. Eligibility criteria for admission into different post graduate designing programmes at IITs and IISc. A candidate must have completed 10+2+4 years of study or higher. But different institutes have different criteria for admission, which is given below in brief. Educational qualification for M.Des. in Visual Communication at IDC, IIT Bombay Minimum 55% of marks are required in any of the following areas. Educational Qualification for M.Des. in Inter disciplinary Industrial Design Programme, IIT Delhi Educational Qualification for M.Des. in Design Programme in IIT Kanpur Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture. There is no age limit and candidates can take Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) any number of times. A fixed number of assistantships, based on merit, are available to pursue the programmes. Other candidates, if granted admission, will have to organise for finance / sponsorships on their own. Pattern of CEED examination / Structure of CEED Examination CEED examination tests drawing skills, aesthetic sensibility, creativity, problem identification and approach to visual and mechanical design. The examination also tests visualization, creativity, design and general awareness, and comprehension. |
